October in Tuscany

Updated: May 8

October, 2022 was the second year that I flew to the Chianti Classico region to run the Ecomaratona del Chianti. The first time I ran the race, in 2019, I traveled solo and relied on my iPhone to record memories. This time, I had two wonderful friends and the joy of bringing my Sony A7iii with me.

We started in Siena, about fifteen minutes from where the race is held in Castelnuovo Berardenga, and spent the remainder of the trip relaxing in a countryside agriturismo, puttering around the beautiful town of Cortona, and museum-hopping in Florence.

Let me tell you: Getting over the stress of bringing my camera on a plane was absolutely worth it. Editing these photos (finally!) has me itching for my next opportunity to capture the little details in the most magical places. (I'll see you again soon, Italy).

One of the best things I did for myself on this trip was allowing myself to look "ridiculous." Pulling over for the best views, carting my camera around with me, waiting patiently for the sidewalk to clear out for a split second, without worrying (too much) about what people thought allowed me the freedom of creative expression. I can only hope to lean more and more into being silly as I get older.
